Program Description
One-day special education law and advocacy program designed to meet the needs of:
- Parents
- Educators
- Advocates and attorneys
- Health care professionals
The conference focuses on four area:
- An overview of special education law, rights and responsibilities
- Tests and measurements of progress & regression
- SMART IEPs
- Introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy.
The program is not disability specific.
About Peter Wright:
Mr. Wright is a nationally recognized attorney who represents children with
special needs. Pete has practiced special education law since the 1970’s. In
1993, he successfully represented Shannon Carter before the US Supreme
Court in Florence County v Shannon Carter (510 US 7). He is the co-author
of several books including: Wrightslaw: Special Education Law; Wrightslaw:
From Emotions to Advocacy; Wrightslaw: No Child Left Behind, and
Wrightslaw: IDEA 2004.
